Ceremony sites

Two outdoor ceremony sites, and the hall as the third.

The shore puts the lake behind the arbour. The grove gives shade and shelter in spruce and aspen. If the weather turns, the ceremony moves into the hall.

The shore

The benches face the lake and the couple stand against it. There are 18 wooden benches, each seating about four, with a 50 ft aisle between them. The ground is mown grass with a gentle fall toward the bank, and in spring it can be soft.

A half past four ceremony in July leaves the evening light for portraits. In September, sunset is near 19:45 and the day runs about an hour earlier. Light by month.

The grove

A clearing in spruce, birch and aspen, away from the bank. It is shaded at four in the afternoon in July and enclosed on a windy day. The benches and arbours can go to the shore, the grove or the hall, and none costs more than the others.

Ground, wind and walking

  • The aisle is mown grass, cut short before the day. The only gravel is the road in.
  • The grove is the wind plan and the hall is the rain plan. Neither costs extra.
  • Mosquitoes: the venue does not fog. You may arrange fogging yourselves.

Questions

Who sets up the benches?

You and your wedding party. The 18 benches are stored beside the ceremony site and seat about four each. Bring cushions if you want them. There is also a second arbour, a white three-piece arch that goes together on the lawn.

Can we have the ceremony somewhere else on the property?

Yes: the grove, or indoors in the hall.

Is there power at the shore?

Power is at the building and at the top of the two camera towers. Ask us about the arbour when you tour.

Which site photographs better?

The shore gives you water and open sky behind the vows. The grove gives you shade and no wind. Bring your photographer to the tour and let them stand in both.
