Alcohol and catering in Alberta

The licence costs ten dollars.

You hold the liquor licence and supply the alcohol and mixers. Our in-house bartenders serve the bar. Bring any insured caterer.

The alcohol licence

A private event with alcohol in Alberta needs an AGLC Special Event Licence. You apply for it yourself, online.

  • Non-sale licence
$10. You provide the alcohol and do not charge guests.
  • Resale licence
$25. You run a cash bar.
  • Who applies
You do. Not the venue, not the caterer.

What else you need

  • Event liability insurance, around $200 in Alberta, arranged online.
  • Our in-house bartenders. They are the one vendor you must use. The bartender contacts you, or you contact them, to go over what you want.
  • No homemade alcohol. AGLC does not permit it at a licensed event.

Last call is 1:00 am and curfew is 2:00 am.

Catering

Bring any insured caterer. There is no approved list and we take no commission. The venue has a full commercial kitchen, with caterer access from the south parking lot and access to the deck.

There is no corkage.

What we need from them

  • A certificate of insurance.
  • ProServe for anyone serving alcohol.
  • A load-in time.

Rooted & Grazed makes grazing tables and late-night snacks in house.
